What is puboplasty?

Puboplasty surgery is also known as pubic lift or monsplasty. It is the procedure of improving mons pubis outlook by removing the fatty, saggy,bulging tissue over the vulva. In some cases, it may be performed in combination to an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery.

Surgery is preffered over liposuction in cases with eccessive loose skin and an island of skin and sucutaneous fat tissue is removed by using a scalpel. It may be also necessary for removing hypertrophic retracted cesarian section scars for scar revision.

What is plumping of mons pubis?

Mons pubis (Venus Hill) is the triangular hairly skin covered area just below the pubic bone. There may be loss of volume due to aging and sudden loss of weight. Sometimes cesarean section scars may cause retraction of the skin giving an irregular body contour.

These can be corrected by autologous fat transfer or synthetic hyaluronic acid injections to the area which is called mons pubis plumping. The result is a tighter, smoother, shinier and younger appearing vulva.

What is labioplasty?

Labioplasty is commonly used to define the surgical procedure performed to correct the appearance of loose,irregular, hypertrophic, dark coloured or asymmetrical labia minora (inner lips) for a younger, tighter, smoother appearance. It may also ne performed for functional reasons like:

• Pain due to stretching of enlarged labia during intercourse,
• Pain during sports like bicycle riding, swimming etc due to irritation,
• Recurrent vaginal infections,

What is vaginoplasty?

Vaginoplasty term is commonly used to refer to the procedures performed for vaginal tightening. Vagina may get loose due to child birth, aging or genetic tendency.

There may be badly healed episiotomy scars or birth tears in the perineal area which can be corrected by a perineoplasty.

Stress urinary incontinence and fecal incontinence can be corrected concommitantly using special surgical techniques and equipment.

Actually this term means reconstruction of vagina in patients born without a vagina (vaginal agenesis). But the term vaginoplasty has been commonly used to replace its original meaning with vaginal rejuvenation and tightening.

What is hoodectomy?

Clitoris is located at the connection of two labia minora and sometimes it may be covered by excessive amount of tissue which can be removed by surgery to improve both appearance and function. This surgery is named as hoodectomy or cliotal hood reduction. Hoodectomy is believed to increase sexual arousal by leaving the clitoris more open to external stimuli.

What is G shot?

Located almost 1/3 of the distance from vaginal enterance underneath the anterior vaginal mucosa is a hypothetical structure formed from nerve bundles. This structure is called the G spot and is believed to play a role in female vaginal orgasm during vaginal intercourse.

The G shot is the augmentation of this area by fillers. The fillers can be either synthetic (hyaluronic acid) or patient’s own fat retrieved by liposuction. This procedure aims to improve female sexual function by increasing the intensity and frequency of female vaginal orgasms.

What is labial puff surgery?

Labial puff surgery or labial augmentation is the procedure of injecting synthetic hyaluronic acid or autologous fat transfer for improving labia majora appeance in women with wrinkled , old looking labia with loss of subcutaneous tissue volume.

Patient’s own fat injection to labia is called autologous fat transfer and its effect lasts longer than synthetic hyaluronic acid fillings.

What is labium majus reduction?

When there is bulky fat tissue or sagging of skin covering the labia majora, labium majus reduction can be performed by surgical resection of the excess skin with the underlying fat tissue. This can be done on one side or both sides when necessary. It can be performed concommitantly with monsplasty and abdominoplasty in indicated cases.

What is genital liposuction?

Genital liposuction can be performed for labia majora and mons pubis, usually in combination with procedures of liposuction of the tummy, buttocks and thighs for a more balanced body contour.

It is usually indicated in patients who have local fat accumulation without excessive loose skin.

What is hymenoplasty?

Hymen is a mucusal ring shaped structure located at the vaginal enterance. It is believed to have no function in females. A hymenoplasty or hymen repair is a surgical procedure performed for cultural reasons. In some cultures hymen is accepted as related to virginity and bleeding during or after first intercourse is expected to be a sign of virginity. For this reason some patients may apply for this surgery to achieve bleeding during first intercourse.

In very rare cases, the hymen may be totally closed congenitally or the hole on the hymen may be too small for penetration. The patients with a totally closed hymen apply with pain during first menstruation, because the menstrual blood can not flow out and accumulates in the vagina. An emergent surgical procedure is mandatory in such cases to form an opening in the hymen. This procedure is called a hymenotomy.

What is genital bleaching?

Genital bleaching term is used for procedures applied for lightening the colour of external genital organs. Genital area may get hyperpigmented and dark coloured due to:

• Hormonal changes,
• Child birth,
• Aging,
• Chronic irritation.

Some patients don’t like the appearance of their darkened vulva skin. Genital bleaching has been very popular recently. Genital bleaching can be performed by chemical peeling and laser devices. Genital skin may redarken in time and the procedure may need to be repeated periodically.

What is stress incontinence surgery?

Stress urinary incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine during coughing, sneezing, walking, sports etc. It is caused by pelvic relaxation and distorted angle of the urethra due to laxity of tissues around it. Most common reasons for pelvic relaxation are aging and child-birth.

There are several surgical procedures to correct stress urinary incontinence. Stress incontinence surgery can be done through an abdominal incision such as the Burch operation or through an incision in the vagina such as the vaginal sling operations. Vaginal sling procedures can be performed through a small suburethral incision in the vagina.

Sling procedures have gained popularity in recent years because of their non- invasive nature and easier, shorter post-operative recovery times. Such procedure can be performed concommitantly with a vaginoplasty where a cystocele (bulging bladder from anterior vaginal wall) can be corrected. Sometimes the bladder bulges so much that it can be seen from outside.

What is fecal incontinence surgery?

Some women may have tears in the vagina and anal sphincter due to difficult or macrosomic child birth which may lead to fecal incontinence. Fecal incontinence may be corrected by surgical procedures mending the tears of levator ani muscle of the anal sphincter. Fecal incontinence surgery can be performed concommitantly with a vaginoplasty where a rectocele or enterocele ( bulging rectum and intestines from posterior vaginal wall) can be corrected.

What is a mummy-make-over?

A combination of procedures may be used to restore a woman’s body back to pre-child birth shape and they are totally named as the mummy make-over. They include procedures such as:

• Liposuction,
• Abdominoplasty,
• Breast reconstruction with or without implants (Reduction mammoplasty or breast augmentation),
